アブストラクト
  In general, communication services based solely on the store-carry-forward routing schemes suffer from the scalability problem, meaning that the buffer consumption and the delay time in message delivery increase linearly with the size of the service area. Our contribution aims at a practical framework to provide a wide service area of large data exchange among users or from/to the Internet in a high cost-performance way. The basic idea is to carefully divide the entire service area into some segments (in which a store-carry-forward routing scheme by vehicles could be effectively adopted) properly formed along the road, each of which can be regarded as a virtual hot-spot, and to persistently connect those segments by wired/wireless networks (i.e., by making short-cut). We evaluated the epidemic routing use case and confirmed our proposal could narrow the spread range of epidemic routing being confined within a segment and thus mitigate the huge delivery delay and wasteful buffer consumption in epidemic routing.
